General Introduction
Geriatrics is a branch of science that aims at healthy aging with preventive medicine practices in the advanced ages, and also deals with the health problems (diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of acute and chronic diseases), social and functional lives and quality of life of this age group.
Multidimensional Geriatric Evaluation” is performed in geriatric patients. In this evaluation; Unlike the standard medical evaluation, the functional status, geriatric syndromes and quality of life of elderly people with their medical problems are evaluated with various scales. In addition, it is possible to determine the most risky group in terms of geriatric problems, which is called “fragile elderly”, with multi-dimensional geriatric evaluation. The risk of falls, functional dependence, hospitalization and death is increased in the frail elderly. Identifying this patient group and arranging the treatment/care plan is one of the most important goals of multifaceted geriatric evaluation.
